All in One WP Migration plugin is simple, intuitive and reliable. That’s why it made it to my Best WordPress plugins.
Of course, you can also migrate the pages manually (via FTP and subsequent database connection), but I don’t see any great advantage in this procedure. That’s why I like to use the option of migration through the plugin myself.

How to migrate with All in One WP Migration?
Migration is really easy.
- You install it on the page you want to migrate,
- Click on “export”,
- You install it on the destination page,
- Click “import” and import the previously created file.
Click to confirm the database overwrite and you are done.
Easy.
Will the plugin override the url migration?
Yes. The plugin will automatically overwrite not only url addresses but also database tables. This avoids many potential problems that could arise during manual migration.
Migration is failing, where could the error be?
For the migration to go through, it’s just important to make sure that:
- Both sites (old and new) have a version with either www. or without -> either way, they both have it the same way
- Both sites have the same version of PHP (whether 7.4 or 8 doesn’t matter)
- Both sites have / or both do not have an HTTPS certificate
If the sites differ in any of the above parameters, it is possible that the migration will fail.
However, the fix is easy and the migration should subsequently go through without a problem.
Does the plugin have any limitations?
Basically the only limitation is the maximum possible size of the imported site.
If I’m not mistaken, the plugin has an upload size limit set equal to the limit allowed by your hosting.
So try increasing the upload limit on your hosting first and you will probably increase the limit within the plugin as well.
If you can’t increase your hosting upload limit (or it’s too expensive), you can use the Unlimited Extension plugin extension for $69.
I personally own this extension and have a good experience with it. So if you would like to use it but don’t know if it makes sense for you to purchase it, feel free to email me :).
Anyway – if you don’t want the extension, you couldn’t increase the limit on your hosting and the free version wouldn’t be enough, you can go for a good old manual migration. Just don’t forget the backup!

Word of Conclusion
I know a lot of colleagues don’t give a damn about manual migration and assume that because someone uses a plugin, it’s because they couldn’t migrate the site manually.
This is not the case.
It’s all about efficiency.
Thanks to the great experience I’ve had with this plugin, I’ll gladly spare myself the beauty of manual migration and use the time saved in other ways.
However, this is a personal preference. Let me know in the comments how you migrate your sites?
