In the article Cookie bar, everything you need to know, we took a closer look at cookies.
But what plugin should you use to stay legally dry?
Complianz seems to be the ideal choice. That’s one of the reasons why it made it into my selection of best WordPress plugins.
What can Complianz do?
First, Complianz can generate a cookie bar that meets all legal requirements and is dynamic (one can change their preferences over time).
Following the guide, you can configure Complianz to work properly with Google Tag Manager.
Setup is again extremely fast, intuitive and simple.
Complianz is therefore highly recommended.
Is Complianz free?
Yes, Complianz is free.
It also offers a paid version, but you won’t need that unless you need your site to comply with multiple legislations, need to collect consent records, or want to run A/B tests with the cookie bar.

Word of Conclusion
Almost no one enjoys dealing with legislative stuff on the web. However, dealing with legislative stuff in administrative proceedings with the authorities is two orders of magnitude worse.
Even if you are a small site where the likelihood of an audit is small, I recommend not underestimating this issue. You never know who might be so concerned about your success that they might even report/complain you somewhere.
As the story goes, if one could wish for anything in the world with the understanding that one’s neighbor would get twice as much, many people would wish to lose an eye.
Humans are special. That’s why I highly recommend not to underestimate the legalities on your site.
Happily, thanks to Complianz, it’s not hard to comply with the regulations.
I use the plugin again on almost all sites and I haven’t encountered a single serious problem.
Let me know again in the comments how you approach GDPR and cookies on your site?
